Invitation to the e/emerge conference opening

"e/merge 2006 - Learning Landscapes in Southern Africa" is an online
conference taking place on http://emerge2006.net from 10 July - 21 July 2006.

The Centre for Educational Technology takes pleasure in inviting you to the conference opening function, which will take place on: Monday 10 July 2006, 5pm - 7pm in Level 2 of the Leslie Social Science Building, Middle Campus, University of Cape Town. Please circulate this invitation to your colleagues as well.

* Keynote address by Professor Kuzvinetsa Peter Dzvimbo, Rector of the African Virtual University (by Internet video conference): "The limits and possibilities of e-learning in Africa: A brief exposé of the AVU experiences"

* Questions from the floor and Internet participants

(Presentations will also be webcast for registered participants.)

6pm - 7pm:

* Reception (Leslie Social Science Level 2 Foyer)

ICTLIG AGM Wednesday 5 July 2006

The AGM of ICTLIG Western Cape will take place on Wednesday 5 July 2006, from 09:30 to 12:00. The meeting will be held at EDULIS (15 Kruskal Avenue, Bellville).

Our guest speaker will address the topic of how cellphone technology can be used in libraries. For once you'll be asked to keep your phone ON in a meeting, so bring it along!

Also at this meeting, the ICTLIG committee for the next term of office (2006-2008) will be elected. Please start thinking of who you would like to see on the committee ...
